Race Day Details 

 

What: a morning of family-friendly fun

  • Our 5K run/walk is a scenic, flat course and will be officially timed by RaceWire. 

  • Kids 10 and under can participate in a 1 mile fun run. Because parents do not run this portion of the race, it may not be suitable for children under age 5.

  • Prizes will be awarded to top runners.

  • Enjoy DJ entertainment and mingle with some of our sponsors.

  • Enter to win dozens of great raffle prizes.

  • Port-a-potties will be available.

 

When: Saturday, April 6, 2024

  • 8:15 AM: Check-in and day-of registration opens.

  • 8:30 AM: Kids' warm-up.

  • 9:00 AM: Kids' 1-mile run starts.

  • 9:30 AM: 5K run/walk starts.

  • 10:00 AM: Awards presented

  • 10:45 AM: Raffle drawings begin (will show on Facebook Live).

 

Where: Beautiful Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield, MA.

  • The start/finish line is at the intersection of Church Street and Main Street, on the lower common of Lake Quannapowitt near the bandstand.

  • From the north or south: Take I-95 to exit 39, North Avenue, toward Wakefield. Follow North Avenue for about one mile and take a left onto Church Street at the large intersection (you’ll see a baseball field). Follow Church Street for a third of a mile to the lower common. There are parking lots near the softball field, at the lower common, and along the Lake on Main Street.

Proceeds

The proceeds of the Gator Gallop will benefit two 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations:

  • The Greenwood School PTO funds innovative classroom supplies, books for the school library, and school cultural and community events.  

  • The Wakefield Educational Foundation (WEF) provides educational resources and grants to Wakefield's Public School students. 

These needs are met with the generosity of businesses, organizations, and individuals like you.

 

Prizes

We look forward to congratulating all our finishers, but we'll have something special for:

  • Overall 1st place male and female 

  • Top male and female in these age categories:

    • 10 and under

    • 11-19

    • 20-29

    • 30-39

    • 40-49

    • 50+
       

Sponsorship

  • By registering to participate you are already helping us. You can make an additional donation within the registration site to help us more.

  • You can also sponsor our event. We appreciate any donation, big or small, to help make our event a success.  A $100 contribution will get your business or family name on our race shirts. See more details.
